04/10/09  NEHYL U13 League Cup
Farnborough Athletic  1     Camberley Boys Maroons   0

Camberley were unlucky not to have forced extra time after a cracking cup tie between to rally well matched teams. Camberley were somehow denied an equaliser after a forceful

second half showing that saw the home keeper in good form, some near misses and a shoot cannoning back of the crossbar.

The first half was a really tight cagey affair with both teams defending well and challenging all over the park. Farnborough had slightly the better of the chances but were again met with a great keeping display by Aiden, including a wonderful tip around the post after a header that had goal written all over it.

The second half was a close as the first but it was Farnborough that took the lead. This signalled a spell of Camberley dominance which saw Daniel Ebs shoot narrowly wide, Tom saw a effort go wide and Ben and Wills had chances saved. Camberleys afternoon (and season so far) was best summed up when a clever pass from Daniel found William Smith 16 yards out who unleashed a thunderbolt that hit the underside of the crossbar, bounced on the line and span out to safety.

Verdict: A really well contested game just shaded by the home team. Camberley can count themselves slightly unlucky but if the attitude and work rate stay the same and the passing improves, a first win of the season is not far away

MOM deservedly went to William Smith who is returning to his usual form with a performance full of energy and skill that deserved a goal.

27/09/09  NEHYL U13 Div 2
Darby Green Giants   2     Camberley Boys Maroons   1

After two poor performances, Camberley put in a performance to be proud of against a strong and classy (and much changed) Darby Green outfit.

Trailing 1-0 at half time, Tom Mortiboys brought Camberley level before a fantastic Darby strike gave the home side the points.

Darby started very well and their extra class opened up the Camberley defence on numerous occasions. However, Aiden in goal was in outstanding form pulling off numerous wonderful saves including a fantastic triple save, diving athletically to keep out a certain goal and recovering to block two follow ups. The goalkeeping heroics seemed to lift the team and Camberley slowly began to make their mark with Tom firing wide and Brandon bulleting a header just over. However, it was Darby who deservedly took the lead when Camberley were caught on the ball and a burst of speed and good finish made them pay. This spurred the boys on and the rest of the half was very even.

The second half was more even than the first with Camberleys sheer team work and commitment matching Darbys more fluent play. Camberley deservedly got the equaliser when Tom pounced on some hesitant defending to prod home. Camberley continued to show bags of spirit but were undone by Darbys extra class when a loose ball on the edge of the area was expertly crashed into the top corner. Camberley refused to give up and despite pressurising the Darby goal and final finished could not be found.

Verdict: A very welcome return to form from the Maroons against a strong and classy Darby side. Camberley showed desire and commitment but more importantly managed to keep their shape and belief throughout. Well done boys, more of the same please!!

MOM: With everyone putting in a good performance, Daniel Ebsworth deservedly took the spoils for an outstanding display of energy and clever positional play.

20/09/09  NEHYL U13 Div 2
Camberley Boys Maroons  2    Rushmoor Saints Rhinos  4

Camberley were again found wanting after a disappointingly disjointed performance. Goals from Tom Mortiboys and Matt Eldred gave Camberley a 2 - nil lead but the away side didnt let their heads drop and battled throughout to earn an impressive victory.

Camberley got off to a good start when Tom raced clear to finish and Matt E finished expertly after a wonderful save from the Rushmoor keeper fell to him on the edge of the box. However, instead of building on their good work, Camberley lost their shape and their passing became ragged. Rushmoor, to their credit, sensed this and came right back into the game. Rushmoor got back into the game courtesy of a defensive error and then equalised with a penalty after a Camberley handball, leaving the score 2-2 at half time.

Camberley became more ragged in the second period and despite trading chance for chance with the visitors, Rushmoor had more belief and scored two more to deservedly take the points.

MOM went to William Bevell who stepped into goal at late notice and had a good game and had no chance with the goals.

13/09/09  NEHYL U13 Div 2
Camberley Boys Maroons  0    Hook Utd  5

Camberleys season got off to a disappointing start after a lacklustre display presented a good Hook side with 3 easy points.

Camberley needed to be at the top of their game to match a Hook side that scored 15 goals past them last season. Unfortunately, Camberley appeared to have talked themselves out of the game before a ball was kicked and went on to deliver a display that lacked commitment, drive and belief. This encouraged the away side who dominated for long periods and fully deserved their win.

MOM went to Brandon Plumb who shone throughout and showed bags of commitment, drive and belief. Hopefully, this will rub off on the rest of the team in time for next Sundays game.
