CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 6 MANOR COLTS GREENS 2
Wow! What a time to pull out your best performance of the season!
The boys today were outstanding. In fairness the first half was pretty even and Manor Colts gave a good account of themselves. Manor scored first but then Jack B levelled at 1-1 following a through ball from Lewie which Jack controlled well and finished. Kaine came close with couple of good efforts and both sides hit the post. However, at half time there was little to separate the teams. At half time I reminded the boys that this was their last game of the season and that we needed some goals to help us compete for third spot in the league. Nicky also mentioned something to Jack H about a laptop! Needless to say the boys came out of the traps and within a few minutes Jack H had picked the ball up in his own half, tore off down the wing and rounded several players before cutting in at the bi-line and finishing at a very acute angle for one of the goals of the season! Lewie then popped up with his first goal of the season with a brilliant chip from outside of the box which was celebrated in style with a pitch invasion from his dad! Jacob was inspired too and very unlucky not to score. He picked up the ball and cut in with a great shot which the keeper did well to save but he knocked it up in the air and Nathan headed the finish – 4-1. We then had a trade mark Nathan rocket from outside of the box and it sailed into the corner of the goal! Manor then responded with a goal of their own before Jacob went on another run. Again the keep saved his effort and Nathan followed up for his hatrick.
Overall a fantastic performance from all of the boys and I would love to have had seven man-of-the-match trophies to hand out. Lewie picked it up though for his tremendous work-rate and contribution which he topped off with a fabulous goal. Well done Lewie.
A really good end to a really good season!

ALDERSHOT B&G BEARS 1 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 2
A slow start to this one and not a huge amount to say about the first half other than it ended 0-0. The second half was much better and the boys got off to a flier when Nathan picked the ball up by the half way line and waltzed through the entire team before coolly finishing 1-0. We then got our heads up and started to play. We could not score our second though despite numerous attempts from Nathan, Jack B, Fitzy and Kaine and then Aldershot scored to level at 1-1. To their credit the boys did not give up and Nathan, after taking a heavy knock, played really well and had a fabulous shot from the edge of the box thump against the bar before crossing to Jack B who was unlucky before Kaine finished to seal a well deserved win.
Jack Hayes was stand-in captain for the missing Lewis and did very well commanding the defence and midfield. He and Lewie were, as ever, dependable at the back and Jacob played very well with some strong tackling and good passing in midfield. Fitzy, although taking a few knocks, dribbled and passed well and Jack B showed some good skill in the midfield almost scoring as he got a deft header on a strong shot from Nathan. Daniel, when called upon, was excellent with good stopping and much improved kicking throughout. Kaine battled really well on the wing in the first half and equally well up front in the second. Our man of the match was Nathan with an excellent goal which he created from nothing and also to set –up the second after he had taken a knock – well done.

MILFORD PUMAS ROVERS 1 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 5
A very good all round performance today for the Maroons. From the outset all of the boys were on top of their game. We had two or three well worked opportunities before a great through ball from Nathan was well controlled and finished by Jack B which he soon followed up to make it 2-0. Kaine then moved us to 3-0 before Fitzy put us 4-0 up at half time.
As ever, Lewie and Jack H were solid in defence with strong tackling, good clearances and some good runs forward. Daniel, although rarely called upon, playing very reliably and caught and kicked very well. Lewis broke everything up in midfield and went very close to scoring from way outside of the box in the second half whilst Jacob played very intelligently with some good passing.
Fitzy went on lots of mazy runs and took his goal well. The second half was more of the same and we controlled throughout. Jack B added another for a well deserved hatrick and on another day we could probably have scored another 5 as a number of boys went close. All in all an outstanding result and great football.
Man of the match: Jack B for a very good hatrick. Well done

MANOR COLTS WHITES 4 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 1
A short report this week to match the short pitch that our boys struggled to deal with. Just put it down to one of those days where our usual passing game through the middle was ineffective and Manor Colts were able to lift the ball over us. In fact we were 2-0 down before we knew it. In fairness we probably had most of the ball but were unable to create enough changes and when we did (right at the end) with a good ball over the top from Jack B, Nathan finished off in style. Nathan had hit an earlier free kick against the bar but we really did not have any more chances than that.
Notable performance from Lewie and Jack at the back with some great runs from Jack H and Daniel made some good saves also. Kaine and Jack B were both a bit isolated up front but worked hard. Some great tackling in the middle from Lewis and Jacob. Jack F had some good runs but the size of the pitch kept it too congested for him to be as effective as usual. He also took a knock at the end and had to come off – hope he is ok.
Man of the match: Jack Hayes for strong tackling, good clearances and some surging runs forward, well done.

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 6 SHINFIELD RANGERS 1
Outstanding result for the Maroons. Difficult morning as the rain was torrential and the pitch became very heavy but this did not prevent an all round good performance for the boys. Fitzy had another good game for us with some weaving runs which Shinfield could not deal with and it was good to see him score a well deserved first goal of the season.
As always Jack H and Lewie were solid at the back with great tackling, interceptions and some good forward runs from jack H in particular. Daniel was rarely called into action but was very brave when he was, smothering a couple of balls and catching everything that came his way (he could do very little about the Shinfield goal). Jacob passed very well and was involved in several of the goals. Lewis in midfield was very good, winning lots of balls and passing well.
Jack B battled hard, playing in several positions during the game, and could have had a goal or two himself. He crossed well for Lewis to score at the far post. Kaine worked hard up front and on another day would have had a couple himself but he caused Shinfield a lot of problems and played with confidence. Our man of the match today was Nathan with four goals – two in each half. His goals were all well taken and his all round performance was excellent.

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 3 FARNBOROUGH YOUTH FLAMES 0
Great all round performance that puts the Maroons up into third place in the league four points behind the league leaders with 3 games in hand.
The Maroons were well in control in the first half and got the breakthrough half way through the half with an excellently taken goal by Kaine following some good midfield play by Lewis, Fitzy and Jacob. Only a combination of some good saves from the Farnborough keeper, the goal posts and crossbar kept the score line to 1-0 at half time.
The second half started much the same way and it wasn't long before Nathan scored to make it 2-0. Farnborough then realising the game was slipping away from them, started to get more physical in an attempt to gain control of the midfield. The defensive pair of Jack Hayes and Lewie held firm and kept things solid at the back.
On the only occasion where Farnborough managed to get a shot in Danile was a hand to make a great save. Kaine then got his second goal effectively killing the game off. Throughout the game we were the better team, controlling the midfield, strong and confident in defence, and dangerous in front of goal.
Man of the match was Kaine - well done!

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 1 MILFORD PUMAS WANDERERS 0
Great results for the Maroons beating the team who were at the top of the table at the start of the day. This was a hard fought battle from start to finish with all 9 players working very hard.
We probably had the best of the possession in the first half and some great midfield play from Fitzy, Jacob, Lewis and Nathan. Our goal came just before half time after some good work from Lewis on the edge of the box. He was clearly fouled but the referee played a good advantage as the ball rolled forward and Nathan slotted home between the keepers legs.
Fitzy then went close with a fizzing shot just over the bar and then hitting the bar fro out wide. Milford came close also and we needed a couple of goal line clearances to keep us ahead at half-time.
The second half was much the same. Our boys at the back battled hard and worked well together and Jack B and Kaine up front rotated well but were unable to find the goal. Our best chance of the second half followed a great run and shot from Fitzy which came off the post – unlucky!
Towards the end we had to work really hard as Milford tried hard to find an equaliser but were unable to.
Man of the Match: Jack ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 6 YATELEY JUNIORS 3
Outstanding game for the Maroons and a terrific debut for Jack ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald. We got off to a flying start with a cracking goal inside 2 minutes from Jacob. The boys were passing well and a couple of good long-range efforts from Fitzy and Lewie tested the keeper. We then had a succession of corners and came close on several occasions. Jack B made it two after a great cross from Fitzy which he got the finest touch on before it went in off the opposition (he tells me he is claiming it – too much telly I say!).
Nathan started the game in goal as Daniel was not available. We opted to swap Jack B and Kaine in an out as a lone striker which worked very well. Defence and midfield were excellent with Lewis, Jacob and Fitzy controlling everything whilst Lewie and Jack H were typically solid.
At 2-0 we were playing really well and looked in complete control before good break from Yateley brought the score back to 2-1 and then just before the break they levelled 2-2 – game on! The second half was slightly delayed whilst Nathan and Lewis disappeared to swap outfits so Lewis could play in goal. We got off to a good start again in the second half and Nathan quickly got himself onto the score sheet with a great finish from a tight angle. He then follow up with a close range effort for 4-2. Yateley hit back though for 4-3 before Jack B grabbed his second after following up on a good strike from Fitzy. Nathan then score again for his hatrick and to seal the win.
Outstanding performance and great first game of 2010 for all of the boys. Jacob played his best game for us with consistent strong tackles, good passing and a good goal to earn himself the man of the Match.

YATELEY JUNIORS 1 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 1
A very boggy pitch made playing conditions difficult but despite that the boys enjoyed another competitive match. Jack B only played for the first half but enjoyed good possession in midfield with some strong tackling and good running.
Lewis played very well in midfield and broke up a lot of the play while Nathan had a couple of good strikes in the first half. As always, Lewie and Jack H in defence were very strong. Overall, the first half was pretty even with the only real goalmouth action coming at our end when Daniel bravely came off his line to intercept a ball.
Unfortunately his momentum took him through the player also and the ref ordered a slightly dubious penalty which Daniel promptly saved! The score finished 0-0 at half time. At that point I had to leave so it’s a bit vague from this point!
5 minutes into the second half Jacob ran the ball well down the wing and crossed for Nathan to shoot. The goalie saved but the ball came out to Kaine who opened the scoring. Unfortunately though we were to ensure our third straight draw when Yateley hit back.
I am told that Daniel made a string of great saves in the second half to add to his penalty stop in the first which earned him a deserved player of the match.

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 0 MANOR COLTS WHITE 0
Despite the scoreline this was a very high quality game. We were missing Jack Hayes and so had no subs and each of the boys worked very hard. Daniel’s performance in goal was impeccable, making some good saves, coming off his line when needed and with good kicking. Jack and Lewie in defence both worked hard and covered well for each other and with Lewis, Jacob and Nathan working well in midfield we had good balance and linked well with Kaine up front. To be fair neither side created any clear cut chances and a draw was definitely the right result.
Man of the match to Jacob who had his best game for Camberley, well done!

MANOR COLTS GREENS 4 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 4
A few of the boys will need a hot bath after this! A cold morning and a pretty physical, though not dirty, contest. The boys got off to the worst possible start conceding the opening goal almost from the kick off. After 10 minutes things had settled down and the boys had got into the game.
Jack H received the ball on the edge of the box and did a bit of ball juggling before cleverly volleying a cracker into the back of the net. Shortly afterwards some good work by Jack B on the wing - rounding a couple of defenders before releasing Nathan who fired in a fine cross for Kaine to finish – 2:1.
Manor Colts hit straight back though and levelled at 2:2 which took us through to half time. We were playing with the wind behind us in the second half and Nathan nearly scored directly from the kick-off, only to be denied by some good goalkeeping. Indeed both goalkeepers played very well with Daniel making some outstanding saves for Camberley throughout the game.
As the game wore on the tackles were flying in and at one stage the game was stopping every few minutes as somebody, from either team, went down. Not that it was a dirty game, just very competitive! Nathan was fouled though just outside the area and, after making it back to his feet, took the resulting free kick himself which he deftly floated into the top corner for 3:2.
Once again though Manor Colts hit straight back and then took the lead at 4:3. By this stage it was real end-to-end stuff. We must have had ten corners in the second half and finally managed to get on the end of an excellent delivery from Lewis which Nathan slotted home for the equaliser and his second of the afternoon.
In the middle of the park Lewis worked hard all day with some great interceptions and good tackling. Jacob also played much of the game in midfield with some good passing. Jack H and Lewie in defence were solid as ever.
Nathan scored two very good goals and set-up another for Kaine who finished well. Jack B was unlucky not to score also, forcing the keeper into a good save and worked very hard at both ends of the pitch. In goal Daniel was outstanding and made some first class saves to earn himself Man of the Match. To note, Nathan and Kaine have both now scored 12 each this season!

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 1 Aldershot B&G Bears 3
A very competitive game and the boys were off to a great start with an own goal from the Aldershot goalie after Nathan’s cross to put us 1-0 up. The game then settled down and Aldershot hit back with a good goal from a very fast break which was to set the tone for the game.
Every boy played really well with Daniel making some excellent saves (one notable one with his face in the first half!). Aldershot scored again before the break and again on the break. Camberley dominated the second half. Nathan hit the cross bar, Kaine hit the post, Lewie and Lewis both tested the keeper with good shots from outside of the box and Jack B went just wide.
Fantastic defending from Jack H and Lewis with some good surging runs and Jacob and Lewis in midfield were both very strong with good tackling and passing. Aldershot then hit us once again on the break with a fine finish to take the game to 3-1 where it finished.
At the end of the game the Aldershot coach congratulated the boys and told them that we deserved at least a draw and that we had given them their hardest game of the season by far. Very unlucky overall but a fine performance.
Man of the Match : Jack B for his overall work-rate and contribution

POTLEY & FROGMORE LIONS 4 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 2
A very heavy pitch and, to be fair, the boys started slowly. We had a very dubious penalty awarded against us in the first half when the ball struck Lewie on the arm and the resulting penalty was unstoppable. We did not really seem to be able to get it together and soon found ourselves 3-0 without having started to play. Towards the end of the half we did start to find our way and a good corner from Jacob was superbly turned in off the post from Lewis for his first goal of the season.
The goal seemed to wake us up as from the whistle for the second half we started to play as we have done all season. We moved to two at the back and Jack H and Lewie were battling hard and finding time to run forward, both making great runs down the wings whenever they could. Lewis was winning everything in the middle of the park and Jack B and Kaine started to have some success up front. Nathan came on at half time and within 10 minutes had brought the score back to 3-2.
At this stage it looked like we would come back and win and the boys were very dominant and I think they all felt that the game was for the taking. We created chance after chance with Potley pinned deep inside their own half but we were not able to find the equaliser. Right at the end Potley hit us on the break and scored their 4th but 4-2 was really not a reflection on the game overall and we deserved at least a draw.
Overall, a real game of two halves and the boys were very unlucky. The game did get a little physical and one or two decisions possibly didn’t go our way but a good learning experience for all of us and it does show how competitive this league is. It’s Aldershot next game up and so we will all be looking forward to that!
Man of the Match: Lewis for a great goal and for controlling the midfield, a true captains performance.

CROOKHAM ROVERS 4 CAMBERLEY BOYS VII 3
This game, played as a friendly, allowed both teams to field a mix of their respective U10 teams. Crookham have a team in Division 1 and so this was a good test for Camberley. We had had lots of rain overnight and so the pitch was very muddy – proper footy conditions!
Camberley started very well and Jack B took us into the lead after following up a good shot from Jacob to score with his left foot. Kaine then doubled the lead and we went in at half-time 2-0 up. Crookham mixed their team up at half-time and the second half was more difficult. Daniel made a string of fine saves and Lewie and Adam in defence were all over the place, making good tackles and clearances.
Crookham gradually pegged us back though and after 15 minutes of the second half they had moved 4-2 up. The boys did not let their heads go down though and Kaine scored again to bring us back to 4-3 after a great through ball from Nathan which set Kaine up for a one-v-one which he calmly slotted home off the post. Even at that stage we could have equalised and the game was very end-to-end but it finished 4-3 to Crookham.
Man of the Match to Daniel for a string of great saves and good kicking.

SHINFIELD RANGERS 2 CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 4
Another excellent game for the Maroons against a well organised side. It felt like proper football weather today with light drizzle and the ball was skidding off the surface. The boys got stuck in from the start with solid tackling, good passing and good communication throughout. Jack Hayes organised the defence with lots of good forward runs and we should have scored early on when Kaine hit the post.
Shortly after that we also hit the bar and then after Shinfield had started to work their way into the game they scored to take us in at half time 1-0 down. We scored straight from the kick off with Jack B laying off to Nathan on the edge of his own box and a trade-mark left-foot strike from the edge of our own box which flew in the bottom corner, leaving everybody stunned! From then it was one-way traffic.
Jack B moved alongside Kaine up front and shortly after Nathan headed down for Jack to turn and hit a sweet volley into the corner – great move and good technique. Kaine then got on the score sheet, having hit the woodwork (interesting name for plastic posts!) twice in the first half with a well deserved goal, showing good control and finishing in the bottom corner.
Kaine followed up shortly afterwards with number 4 to take the game safe before Shinfield scored with a late consolation, though Daniel very nearly saved. Jacob and Lewis were by this stage controlling the midfield with some strong interceptions and great passing. Lewie in defence was once again very good with some very good tackling, strong clearances and sound passing.
In goal Daniel was very cool, using his body well to make good saves and with some very good kicking. Indeed at the end of the game one of the Shinfield players was through one on one and Daniel made a great save to deny him.
Man of the match: Kaine for two goals and a great contribution. Well done!

CAMBERLEY BOYS MAROONS 4 – 3 MILFORD PUMAS ROVERS
A very high quality game from start to finish. The boys had to be organised against a strong team who knocked us out of the cup just a couple of weeks back. The game started off very tightly with a couple of good long-range efforts from Nathan before Milford opened the scoring. The Maroons responded immediately with a good corner from Jacob and an excellent headed finish from Jack Hayes to go in level at 1-1 at half-time.
Milford started the second-half strongly and scored quite quickly. Nathan then scored with an outstanding lob from way out on the left wing which went into the top corner. Shortly afterwards Nathan put in a great cross which bounced once and was then finished with a good header from Kaine to take us 3-2 up. Milford responded again though to equalise before Nathan scored once more with another sweet finish.
The boys stayed organised and battled hard to hold on for a well earned 4-3 victory. All 8 of the boys deserve recognition for an excellent performance today. Daniel was very good in goal making some excellent saves. The three at the back (Jack, Jack and Lewie) communicated and tackled well and covered for each other against a strong attacking opposition. Nathan and Lewis were once again very strong in midfield with Jacob and Kaine interchanging well in attack.
Man of the match: Nathan for two great goals and one assist.

Farnborough Youth Flames 0 Camberley Boys Maroons 5
An outstanding all round performance. Daniel was never troubled in goal with the two Jack’s and Lewie in defence playing very well with solid tackling, good communication and some strong clearances. We ended the first half on top but still level at 0-0.
The second half was a revelation! Good tenacity from Kaine for his first goal and then a fantastic half volley from way outside of the box by Nathan which flew into the bottom corner – a candidate for goal of the season if ever I saw one.
Nathan then tried an audacious lob which the goalie tipped onto the bar and was still unlucky not to drop into the net. At 2-0 the boys were playing with lots of confidence – good tackling in midfield from Lewis and some great passing from Jacob.
Kaine followed up with two more strikers goals for his hatrick and Jack B played the last 5 minutes up front and finished the match in style by robbing a defender on the edge of the box and finishing firmly in the bottom corner to round off an inspired performance from all of the boys.
Man of the Match: awarded to Lewie for his tremendous hard work and strong tackling. Well done

Camberley Boys Maroons 0 Milford Pumas Rovers 3
A tough game for the Maroons. Rovers are clearly not a Division 4 side and the game was very competitive from start to finish. The boys started very brightly with good passing and strong tackling. We played with three across the back with the two Jack’s and Lewie and did not look like conceding until Milford scored shortly before half-time from a corner. Several good efforts from Nathan and a half volley from Jack B in the second half could have brought us level before Milford scored again and then rounded off with a third just before the end. Overall though the boys need not get disheartened and once again played very well as a team.
Man of the match: Jack Hayes for the second week in succession for some great tackling and surging runs from defence.

Camberley Boys Maroons 4 Mytchett Athletic Falcons 4
Another good display from the Maroons. They started very brightly with a good goal in the bottom corner from Jack B, closely followed by a strong left foot shot from Nathan to put them 2 up after 10 minutes.
Mytchett then found their way and the game became more evenly balanced. Camberley passed well and worked hard and by half-time it we were 3-1 up after a second goal from Jack.
The second half continued at a very fast pace and Mytchett came back at us strongly. Jack H and Lewie worked hard in defence and we may have held on to the 4-1 lead we had developed, after a second from Nathan, but got caught several times on the break as the forwards struggled to track back.
Just before the end Mytchett equalised and, even at that point, either team could have won with continued end-to-end action. The match finished 4-4 with lots of bitten finger nails and 14 very exhausted boys.
Overall a fair result and something to build on for next week.
Man of the match: Jack Hayes for an outstanding and energetic performance in defence with many last ditch tackles and for creating our third goal from defence.

Camberley Boys Maroons 9 CSA 07 Crusaders 0
A fantastic start to the season for the Maroons. The team cruised into a half-time lead of 3-0 with the opening goals marking a first hat-trick for Kaine who was inspired. The team passed well and played as a team throughout the game. Kaine’s first half hat-trick was matched in the second half by Nathan and a debut goal for Jacob was fully deserved. Lewie and both Jack’s in defence were very solid and on the rare occasions that Daniel was called into action he was faultless, most notably with a diving save where he turned the ball around the post with one hand! Lewis gave a true captains performance in the midfield and the game was capped with two excellent late goals from Jack B. All players were outstanding and the boys should be very proud of their best performance as a team to date. Player of the match to Kaine for three excellent goals which got us off to a fine start.
